How to Store Extra Virgin Olive Oil

So it lasts longer and keeps its amazing taste

Extra virgin olive oil is a living product.
It's full of flavor and health benefits — but it's also delicate.
If you don’t store it properly, it can lose everything that makes it special.

Here’s how to store it the right way 👇

☀️ Keep it away from light

Light causes oxidation and damages the oil.

✔️ Store it in a dark place
✔️ Use dark glass or stainless steel bottles

🌡️ Avoid heat

Heat speeds up the aging of olive oil.

✘ No kitchen counters near the stove
✘ No sunny shelves
✔️ Ideal: cool, dark pantry (14–18°C)

💨 Minimize air contact

Air = oxidation = lost flavor and nutrients

✔️ Always close the cap
✘ Don’t leave the bottle open
✔️ Avoid long-term use of open pourers

🧴 Never store EVOO in plastic

Plastic can affect the oil (especially in warm conditions).
✔️ Use glass, ceramic or steel only

✅ Extra tips

• Use smaller bottles if you don’t cook often
• If you pour into a cruet, refill it from a sealed dark bottle
• Use the oil within 12–18 months for best quality
